Seeking Intervention, Rehabilitation, and Education

Perfectly Imperfect

The mind can be an amazing and beautiful tool, but just like any living creature, we must care for and provide a supportive space for growth. Sometimes, we go through experiences in life that harm the way we think, feel, and interact with the world. Our perception of people and the environment around us can be altered to the point where undesirable behaviors emerge and seemingly take over the person we felt we once knew. While this scenario might hit close to home for most, the first step to gaining back control is accepting you may need help to do so.

Mental health can be messy, debilitating, and chaotic, but it can also be the healing light at the end of the tunnel. Be patient with yourself and understand that we all have flaws. Perfection is an illusion, so let’s focus more towards accepting that we are all just perfectly imperfect.

Jamie Henry

I’ve always felt that our minds can be our best friend and our worst enemy. The roller coaster of emotions that stem from this internal powerhouse can be a lot to not only navigate, but to control as well. I aim to offer individualized support and guidance to gain back or become the person you or your loved one strives to be. A key component in my counseling methodology is open, but realistic discussions. We will unravel the roots of your issues, then nurture and reinforce positive growth. I’ve worked through issues involving troublesome mental health diagnoses, grief and loss, parenting deficiencies, sexual abuse and behaviors, emotional abuse, family reunification, and more. Every human is unique, so I provide counseling that mirrors that idea.

I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2009 with a double bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Psychology. Since then, I have been working in the field of mental health with families, children, and young adults within Westmoreland County. I have provided case management, facilitated family-based therapy, and worked with young men in the juvenile justice system. To continue the journey, SIRE Solutions was founded in 2021 with the goal to share knowledge and help those who may be struggling with their thoughts and behaviors. I look forward to meeting you and helping you seek intervention, rehabilitation, and education.

Using an integrative model of change, I highlight the strengths of different theories to fit the client’s identified needs. Using this perspective, I am able to begin on a behavioral level to work on changes in action, and if the client remains stagnant, the treatment continues to address cognitions and underlying emotions, to identify where progress is constrained.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Seton Hill University with a focus on Solution Focus Therapy. From there I went on to earn my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Waynesburg University. I have extensive training in crisis intervention, clinical experience regarding manifestations of trauma in children and adults, and I am certified to complete EMDR therapy. I have worked with numerous populations and have over 15 years of experience working in counseling.

Services We Offer

    Youth Focused

SIRE Solutions’ Youth Focused Intervention Program is an educational, in-home, and community-based service designed to help at-risk clients identify with problematic thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Once issues are recognized, the youth will explore various skill building, written exercises, and treatment approaches to encourage improved decision-making. The curriculum utilizes various workbooks and evidence-based treatment planning, individualized for need.

SIRE Solutions’ intervention program has the primary goal of keeping the youth in the home setting. Different treatment modalities used are CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and other patient-focused approaches. Topics addressed include troublesome emotions, escalated behaviors, negative thinking, unhealthy relationships, truancy, and many others. Curriculum will be utilized based on functioning level and need.

    Family Unity

SIRE Solutions’ Family Unity services provides an array of treatment aimed at promoting a cohesive home environment. The referred youth remains the focal point, however treatment and resources are extended to other family members in the home for overall positive growth and success. The client is the family unit, not the individual, like the Youth Focused Intervention Program. Services within Family Unity are multifaceted, and include counseling, skill building, behavior modification and more. SIRE Solutions is committed to empowering families to set and achieve their own goals, which in turn can allow an at-risk youth to remain in the home.

Systemic family therapy will be utilized in the home or community setting. This type of treatment focuses on relationship processes of interaction between people and not so much the isolated individual. Deep-rooted patterns appear between family members through group discussions and individualized sessions. Issues are identified and then planning commences to develop stronger and positive relationships in the home. Genograms and other forms of history gathering are also utilized to help identify with troublesome behavior patterns.

    EMDR Trauma Counseling

Trauma focused treatment will address core issues with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This therapy is based on the idea that negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are the result of unprocessed memories. The treatment involves standardized procedures that include focusing simultaneously on spontaneous associations of traumatic images, thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations, and bilateral stimulation that is most commonly in the form of repeated eye movements. EMDR can help the youth make connections from past trauma to current negative behaviors, process the connected memories, and gain back control to promote success.
